What you said to me by Olivia Newport

"What you said to me" is a great addition to the " Tree of Life" series. I hate that this is the final book. All the four books in this series are stand alone, but I enjoy reading them in order. Olivia Newport did a amazing job at intertwining the main characters with the new characters to make one great story.

Synopsis - When 15year old Trisha Crowder gets caught shop lifting. Nolan Duffy is an a attorney whom tries to protect Trisha from her very troubled life. He thought it would help her to spend time with his daughter Jillian. Jillian is a genealogist who is falling behind in her of her genealogy file. During this time, they found out that everyone knows about the Crowder family and their brokenness. Jillian walks Trisha back to 1893 and see where all went wrong.

My thoughts - What a page-turner full of suspense. Olivia Newport has written a great book. The fact that these books are based around genealogy I just love them.  To learn about a person  is like a puzzle.  You start with one person and it spreads out to others. The story went from present to past, which was sometimes hard to follow. Trisha will learn how the past can affect the present.

Rating - I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars

Sisters of war by Lana Korlchek

Synopsis - Kiev in 1941: Watching the Red Army withdraw from the Ukraine in the case of Hitler's relentless advances. Sister's Natasha and Lisa Smirnove realized their lives were about to change.

My thoughts - I was asked by a friend if I liked the book "German Midwife " and that I might like the "Sister's of War" by Lana Korichek.

I fell in love with this book! It was a great! Sister's of War was a page turner and drew me in from the first chapter. Sister's of War was about what people go through during the most horrible time in our history. It was a war of great magnitude. It affected Natasha and Lisa and their family and friends in several areas.  This book was well written and you can see the author research of the time period.  There were areas of this book that made me cry and laugh. It made me wonder how people survived during this time. Beside being a page turner, there was adventure and romance.

I will gladly recommend this book to family, friend's and my local library.

I will give this book a 5 out of 5.

Royal by Danielle Steel

The very first book I read by Danielle Steel was called "The Ring".  I was about 17 and it was one amazing book set during WWII.  I feel in love with this wonderful author and have loved her books since.  The "Royal" pulled me into the story from the very first page. There is everything in this book that you expect.  The first is the WWII story. You see the affect of the war on people up from the royal family to the poor. You see what families had to do to get through this horrible war. You see young love develop, unexpected death, and compassion. All the characters are likeable and the book was easy to follow. The book was right up my alley with my love for WWII period.

Heartwarming Collection by Wanda Brunstetter

This book "Heartwarming Collection" is a three short stories previously published by author Wanda Brunsetter. Like all of Wanda Brunsetter  book's, this is no exception of being a book you will fall in love with from the first story.

The first story is "Talking for Two", then "The Neighborly Thing" and "Clowning Around".  All the short stories are great, but I always have a problem with having my favorite. My is " Talking for two". It was a story about Tabby, whom signed up for a class because she shudders. The class is on Ventriloquism and taught by Seth Byer. Seth may change Tabby's life forever.

I recommend this book to my family and friends through Facebook, Goodreads, Amazon and my blog

"A Bride's Journey to the Colorado Territory"
By
Diana Lesire Brandmeyer

"A Bride's Journey to the Colorado Territory" is a excellent book. It is filled with adventure , suspense and  most important a love story.

This is the 2nd book in the "Frontier Legacy" series.  It can be a read alone book.

This is the first book by this author I've read. I love the authors ability to make you seem part of the book, the characters seem real and give you insight about what it was like to travel West during the gold rush.

Synopsis - She's running from grief.  He's running from war memories. Can they find love in this dangerous journey West.

Jake, once a prisoner of the union army leaves Tennessee in disgrace. He wants nothing more than to find enough gold to start life over. The last he want was to fall in love.

My thoughts - While reading this book the first thing to stand out is the hardship people had to endure. To me there was always concern about the weather, food control and Indians.  The other thing I noticed was the fact women had no voice.  They were not taking serious when they made a since and did the majority of the work.

Rating - I will greatly give this book a 5 out of 5

Recommendation - I will gladly recommend this book to family and friends through Facebook, bookbud, my blog, Amazon and Goodreads.

"Don't Keep Silent"
By
Elizabeth Goddard

"Don't Keep Silent" by Elizabeth Goddard is the last book in the series . The series "Uncommon Justice" is about three different brothers in each book. It is a stand-alone but you might want to read in order. This isn't the first book by this author I've read.  She is one of my favorite suspense writer.

The first thing that caught my eye was the book cover. It was telling me, this is a suspense book for you. While reading this book and making it to the end, I realized it had a lot of interesting thing.  This book was filled with everything you could ask for in a book.  It has action, adventure, suspense, murder, love and even human trafficking.  Then I opened the first page and that was it I was hooked.  I never wanted to put it down and I didn't want to end the book. Finally Home

"Finally Home"
By
Jennifer Crosswhite

"Finally Home" is the third book and last book in Jennifer Crosswhite series "The Route Home".  I would recommend reading all the books in order because some of the characters were part of the previous books.

My thoughts: This isn't the first book by Jennifer Crosswhite, and will definitely not be my last. What can I say about this book? This story was adventurous, adorable and a all around great historical christian fiction.  I fell in love with all the characters especially the main characters Amelia Martin and Bank Paulson.  The character's were well written and storyline was easy to follow. Great story

Reckless Love
By
Betty White

Reckless Love by Betty White was a wonderfully written book. This is the first book I've read by this author and will not be the last.

This is also the last book in a series of three books. The series is called "Daughtry House". I didn't realize this book was a part of a series till I already started reading. I would recommend reading the books in order, since some story lines are continued in this book.

The character's are likable and relatable making the book hard to put down.  Aurora is a strong woman and knows exactly what she wants.  Zane is a deputy sheriff whom is there to get to witnesses and searching for a killer of his long time mentor. The book is written in a accurate vision of the time period which was right after the Civil War.

Rating of our of 5 out of 5

Set the Stars alight

"Set the Stars Alight" by Amanda Dykes

When I was chosen to be on the launch team for "Set the Stars Alight" , I really didn't know what to expect. This wasn't a book I would normally read, but I was up to trying something new. I was so pleasantly surprised what a great storyline "Set the Stars Alight" had.

My thoughts: What a beautifully written story.  I could really see what a amazing writer Amanda Dkyes is. She was able to intertwine two different time periods into one gorgeous story. You see the different personality of all the characters, which were all likeable.  They had several beautiful quotes but below is my all time favorite . It is so thought provoking and I feel it summed up a lot of the book.

Here childhood friend Dashel and his knowledge of stars was needed to solve a puzzle.  Two hundred years earlier there are three lives that are altered when a shepherd rescues the son of a admiral. As they grow they are forever changed.

"Flying In Love" by Chalon Linton

What can I say about this book? I think amazing covers it!  Chalon Linton knows how to write a clean contemporary romance.  This is the first book by this author that I've read and I am looking forward to the next book.

Synopsis: Paige Hall happy ending may just be in sight. She has been dating her boyfriend for month's and she feels confident their relationship is going on the right direction until she catches him kissing another woman. Paige a speech therapist, puts everything into her work and gave up on men.  Till she ran into Jake Summers, a military pilot.

My thoughts: You might remember what your first love was like. You find your life revolving around that person. Sometimes it's your happily ever after and sometimes it's not. I felt the pain that Paige was going through and the development of a new, fresh relationship with Jake. "Flying in Love" has all the makings of a great book!  It pulled me in from the very first age. Rating: I give this book a 5 stars

"The Green Dress"
By
Liq Tolsma

My first thought about this book after reading the description was can this really be a True Crime.  This a great addition to the "True Colors" series. This book is a book with suspense, wonder and love. It's a page turner a very hard to put down.

The Green Dress is set in Boston in the 1880. The story is about a sinister plot to kill off family members. The author wrote a well written book. I spend a lot of time wondering what's next, who is doing it and especially  when the green dress would come into the story.  There were several night's that I would get up to read the book!

The White Rose Resists by Amanda Barratt

Synopsis : The ideal of a new Germany swept up Sophie Scholl in a maelstrom of patriotic fervor - - that is, until she realized the truth behind Hitler's machinations for the fatherland.  Now she and other student's in Munich, the cradle of the Nazi government, have banded together to form a group to fight for the truth: the White Rose.  Risking everything to print and distribution leaflets calling Germans to ride up against the evil permeating their country, the White Rose threads a knives edge of discovery by the Gestapo.

My Thought's : I have to begin by saying, this book about Sophie Scholl was a page turner, remarkable story line and intriguing. the book isn't just about Sophie, but about a group of friends. The author is able to make you feel like you are part of the book. What a remarkable group of young people whom had the courage to stand up for what they believed in. To go against the most horrible man in history.  To know what might happen to them if they were caught. They stood on their beliefs, with God as their anchor.

Thinking through this book, I don't know if I would have been able to do what they did. Would I be able to stand up for what I believe and know that no matter how hard thing's got God is with me and has a plan for everything.

Recommend :  I will recommend this book to friend's and family though Amazon, Bookbud, Netgalley, Barnes and Noble, Facebook, Goodread and my blog.

Rating : 5 out of 5

I was pulled into the story from the very first page.  I have to say that my favorite part is the relationship between Nolan and Jillian.  They both have a part to do. Nolan on the legal side and Jillian on the research side. I love the whole aspect of the genealogy aspect of the story.

I will gladly recommend this book to other's.

My rating is a five out of five.

The international adoption had one requirement and that was to stay single for the foreseeable future. This wasn't a problem till Joshua came into the picture.  Joshua had a passion for creating educational technology as fascinating as his actions in the classroom. Though she tries to downplay the connection between them, his relentless pursuit of her heart her commitment to stay single to the test.

I usually like historical christian, but this romance christian book has a lot of aspect in it that I liked. I love how I was pulled into the storyline from the very first page and never could put the book down. You can see the love Lauren has for children in her teaching.  I fell in love with Joshua. He was funny from his first scene in the book.  All the characters are likeable.

Great suspense

"Silent Shadow"
By
Natalie Walters

My Thoughts - "Silent Shadow" written by Natalie Walters is a Christian suspense novel. It is the first I've read from this author and know I would love to read more. This is the third book in a series called "Harbor Secret", but can be read as a stand alone.  "Silent Shadow is a book that pulled me in from the very first page. This book will not let you down if you like suspense, romance and adventure.  The character's are very likable. I really loved the relationship between the two main characters, Pecca and Colton. Even though Dalton was a very silent person he soon came out of his shell.

The Blue Cloak
By
Shannon McNear

Intrigue, shocking and the unknown is how I would describe "The Blue Cloak". "The Blue Cloak" is a great addition to the " True Colors - Historical Stories of American Crime.

My thoughts - The thought that this actually happened is hard to believe. I feel Shannon McNear did a well written book with a lot of  research. It helped for me to understand the content in this book by the information at the beginning. The author did give a note at the beginning to let people know that this might be a trigger for some.

I would recommend a 4 out of 5 because it was very hard to read, but it is true.

I will recommend this book to family and friends.

The Star of Persia
By
Jill Eileen Smith

A must read! A fabulous book you will not be able to put down! The Star of Persia is a book that draws you in from the very first page. This is the second book I have read of Jill Eileen Smith and it defiantly won't be the last. She know how to pull you in from the very first page and I couldn't put it down.

Synopsis - In Xerxes world, he was wanting to complete a task that his father started.  This task was finish his plans to win a war.  While he was planning this war, there was trouble brewing between his two wives.  Vashti and Amestris were by no mean friends.  Vashti was the love of the kings life and Amestris and the kings mother couldn't stand that.  Then there was a time that Hadassah was brought into the picture.  Her name was changed to save herself and her people.  Esther was born and a new queen was born in Persia.  This story is filled with courage, love and duty to fulfill the past.

My thoughts - I could tell that a lot of research went into this book.  Jill Eileen stayed to the story of Esther.  I have to say that I don't remember a story that touched me more that this story of Esther.  Esther showed real courage in a difficult time in the bible.  One woman stood up and helped to save the Jews from destruction.  It is through her love and faith of God that helped her and protected her.

I will give this book a 5 out of 5 stars

I will be recommending this book to friends and family

Isaiah's Legacy

By

Mesu Andrews

I have to admit that Mesu Andrews is a great storyteller!  She knows how to bring a historical story to life.  I sometimes struggle when I read stories in the bible and she was able to show me what the time was like and just made me feel like I was there. Isaiah's legacy drew me into the story from the first page.  You can tell that the author spent a lot of time researching the history during the time of King Manasseh.

This story is about a young girl Shullie and her relationship with Judea's future king Manasseh.  She was brought into the picture to tutor Manasseh.  It was during this time the Shullie was forced to learn the art of worshipping pagan god's.  Some sections of Shullie story was hard for me to read, but it was necessary to understand how Manasseh became one of the worse kings in Judea.

I am giving this book a 4 star's out of 5.

I will be recommending this book to my family and friends

"The Rebel Bride" was a wonderful addition to the Daughters of the Mayflower" series. The civil war was one of the most bloodiest war ever fought . Families were torn apart because of what side they fought on. It was brother against brother.  This is the first book by Shannon MacNear I have read and she didn't disappoint me. Shannon MacNear wrote a great story of love, war and forgiveness.

The Gray Chamber

 "The Gray Chamber"
By
Grace Hitchcock

The author Grace Hitchcock wrote a great addition to the "True Colors - Historical Stories of American Crime".

There is several things about this book I found interesting. The author made Edyth Foster a very likable person. Edith was funny, not afraid to be different for the time period of 1887. She was not a prime and proper woman till Lavinia (her uncle's step daughter) came to town. She loved to ride a velocipede and loved fencing, which was a male sport.  Through fencing, she fell in love with her instructor Bane, who never saw her in a romantic light.
She had everything going for her, till her world changed forever.

The other things I found interesting is the asylum. It was so easy to have someone committed during the 1800's.  Back then the treatment was horrendous! Everything from lack of food, locking up while tied to their cot and taken to a room no one ever wants to go, the dreaded room called the gray chamber.

I would recommend this book to anyone. I'm giving th is book
a five out of five stars.

The was a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and I was under no obligation to post a review.
